Uninstalling problem

By jardinier ·
Foolishly, while downloading a media player, uplayer, I also downloaded an ALOT tool bar. I thought I had unchecked the box but down it came anyway.

It is a useless piece of crap that I don't want so I endeavoured to uninstall it in Windows Add/Remove programs. It was successfully uninstalled, or so I thought until I opened Firefox again and found it was still there.

Is there some way of getting rid of this useless piece of rubbish for which I have no use?

Clear Plug-in

You can find some softwares about clear plug-in.
After you uninstalled the tool bar, is there it in Windows Add/Remove programs? Maybe you need to cancel it in Firefox.
I remember Firefox has plug-in management, but I have long time using other explorer...

No it is not, and that is why I was surprised to find it still installed. I am unable to find how to disable it via Firefox.

Look in the add-on manager

under Tools menu. See if it is listed in the Extensions or Add-ons. Disable or uninstall.

I truly can't abide such things which install in multiple places, especially when they were unwanted originally. (Grr.)

All manner of websites invite me to download a toolbar which I don't want. In future I will take more care, but it is most helpful that you have told me how to ERADICATE unwanted tool bars.

To borrow a line from Dr Who: "Exterminate ! Exterminate. !"
