University Project - Web 2.0: Building a blog based community suggestions?

Hi everyone,

As part of a university module focusing on Web 2.0 and social computing we, as a small group, are required to create a blog based website. We have already completed a number of tasks such as configuring and setting up the blog software (WordPress), creating our initial branding, profiles and blog posts that include some podcasts and incorporated a number of plugins, APIs, widgets and social media integrations. Please note, that at this stage, the content is a secondary concern to the functionality that will explain its somewhat amateur nature, but we are following a topic of disruptive start-ups.

Based on what we have now learnt, our next phase is to transition to a ‘real world’ project. Are there any other Web 2.0 functionality of features we should consider adding with the aim to build a better portal, community and also create a following? What are the best plugins or tools to support this? We have already created a number of social media accounts on major platforms. More generally, it would be great to get some feedback on where we can make improvements and where we have made mistakes?

Our current progress can be found at:

Many thanks for your time and consideration, please, feel free to share the website link. Of course, we would also welcome anyone who would like to connect with us and follow our progress.

Kind Regards,
