    Unwanted alarm

    Locked

    by irwingray ·

Suddenly, without any particular action that I knowingly did, my computer started sounding an alarm at 1:00 p.m. each day. The alarm sounds like a rooster crowing cock-a-doodle-doo over and over again for a full minute.

It does not matter whether I am actively surfing the internet or not, but my computer is on DLS and, therefore, open to an internet signal even when I do not have Microsoft Explorer or Mozilla Firefox running. I’ve run anti virus software and registry cleaner software, etc., to no avail.

Any suggestions on how to track or kill my rooster?

Sounds as if you have installed something

With a time alarm on it. It may even be possible to change the sound and the time that it goes off.

As you have tried scanning for Spy Ware and Viruses I would look at what is actually running when the system is open and kill off anything that shouldn’t be there. It’s even possible that there may be something that you unknowingly installed in the Add Remove Programs which you can remove.

Try uninstalling any software you don’t want. Then perform a full system scan with anty-spyware software like ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/) and remove any result.
