UPC in the Benelux!

By areets ·
This company, more so in the Netherlands has felt the anger of the Dutch on many of occasions. The have since 1998 felt the under goings of the Internet broadband access market players, the xDSL infrastructure operators like KPN and Belgian's Belgacom.

Many cable television companies who have coupled their services with broadband Internet access have had truly a raw deal. If we examine the upgrading cost that operators that have had a monopolistic status before liberalization of the Telecommunications and Postal sector in Europe that offers xDSL services, it is by large lower than that of cable operators.

The cable networks infrastructure in Europe, is of hybrid networking and the upgrade of that infrastructure was sky high. Nevertheless, they did not have the choice. They did realized that the existing copper-wire infrastructure, of the likes of KPN's and Belgacom's upgrading cost would be lower and their return on investment was achievable in a shorter time as compared to them(cable operators) which I believe was forecasted for a break-even around 2008-2010.

What makes me laugh is that these xDSL providers claim that they have reached a national penetration worth talking about. Well, not the way it has been reported.
