    Updating software Pop Ups

    Locked

    by mamamacho ·

Does anyone know how to get rid of all the messages that it’s time to update Microsoft? Java, Adobe REader, Itunes, etc. etc. In some cases, such as Microsoft, if you get rid of the constant “you have an update to download” you begin with the “don’t you want to turn on automatic updates?” Is there someplace I can read about how to get rid of them all? Or is there someplace in XP to block them all till I want to do it. In a computer lab with tons of kids, someone always has their hand raised about a stupid update.

from Microsoft. Stop any update program from PC vendors.
Then look through the programs trying to update and see if there are settings to choose to turn off updates

You can do that but remember to update the same day when the Microsoft releases Updates (normally its on the second Tuesdays every Month) on a free time on your computers, i.e., when its not being used, other wise your computers will be vulnerable. For Softwares/Drivers from other Vendors you should regularly check updates. Normally Softwares have a Menu for checking Updates/Upgrades in their Menus if it is having a GUI.

The nags (popups) that tell you there are software updates available for Acrobat Reader, Java, HP printers, Microsoft, etc… have nothing to do with web page “pop ups”.
