I own a small computer training company, with a 6-workstation classroom. At present, they are stand-alone pc’s.

My question is: What is the best way to connect the computers to the Internet without having 6 phone lines?

Should I network the 6computers instead?

Hi, networking your computers would relieve you of the 6-phone line burden. You can install a proxy on your server and have all your computers reach the net through the proxy. You would have to consider the costs of a client/server setup (cabling, nic cards, hub as well as operating system and proxy software such as microsoft proxy server, though there are other proxies on the web). What OS’ are you running? windows 98SE also allows for internet sharing so you could have a peer-to-peer setup. You should be able to find ample information about windows 98se and/or windows NT on microsoft’s site. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your insightful answer. I am using Windows 98. Presently, I’m a one-person operation and don’t have time to learn much about networks. However, I will strongly examine the possibility of setting it up with Win98, and get a professionalto set up the network for me. Hopefully this action will pay for itself.
