I wanted to find out if its possible to switch a P4 HT 3.06 GHz processor for a newer Core 2 Duo one. The system or rather laptop in question is an Alienware Area 51 m7700. I have read somewhere that other motherboards had BIOS updates which allowed the boards to use the newer processors, but I can’t find any updates as I believe the line has been discontinued. The motherboard is a Clevo D900T.
I’ve searched in vain for a BIOS mod of any sort, but considering the laptop is old, there’s not much out for it. Is it possible to get a modded BIOS that would allow the board to run the processor?
