We have an NT domain with the majority of users using NT. With our recent purchase of pc’s, we decided to install these with 2000 pro. The biggest problem is, we use a standard image with all necessary software that can be put on each pc. After changing the SID and renaming the pcs we add them to the domain. No problems. But with 2000, our pc image is really killing us time wise. The problem: We log on as administrators to the local machine. We install all our necessary software of which Office97 is part. (We intend to upgrade later to XP). When a user logs onto the pc after its added to the domain, the user has no dictionary in word, cannot change the default font size and other miscellaneous things they should be able to do. If anybodyknows what we have to do so each user that logs on to a pc has the same image, please help. Also as part of our NT security, they were not allowed to add printers to the local machine. But with 2000 we want them to be able to add printers. Actually,letting them have some rights would be nice if there was a way to prevent system files from being deleted. I read at one time that if system files were deleted, 2000 would reinstall them. There are so many security settings within 2000 and no reallygood resources to tell you what they all do or mean. Anyone know what I need to do? The main issue is the user software and their user rights.
