Upgrading from XP home to XP pro

I recently upgraded a notebook from XP home edition to XP professional. Now I no longer have the option to set up a internet connection using a dial-up modem. The ISP support folks told me this is a known problem with XP but didn’t have a solution. Anyone have an answer?
