Upgrading laptop processor {comptatibility}
LockedHi, I have an Acer 5315 laptop running Vista,
Chipset: Intel mobile GM965 Express
Processor: Intel Celeron M 1.73Ghz 533Mhz FSB
RAM: 2x1Gb
Checked Acer/Intel sites and they state that my chipset would be able to support dual core processors.
(Supposedly compatible with 533Mhz FSB AND 800Mhz FSB processors)It’s for a few games I’d like to play which seem choppy and I think going with a dual core processor would be a big help.
1) I’d like to know if it would be possible to upgrade my processor to a dual core processor? (whether it be any Core 2 Duo, Core Duo, or both)
2) IF IT IS, then must the processor be 533Mhz FSB or 800Mhz FSB? Or could it support 667Mhz FSB aswell?
I know I must still upgrade to the latest BIOS but I was wondering if upgrading the processor was possible first, or else I’ll leave it as it is. I’d welcomely sacrifice any extra heat for extra power, but I think the BIOS update will help regulate that.
Thanks a lot for the help, I’d appreciate it!
