I’m posting this in case you run into the same problem. A while back I posted something about having problems installing WinXP Pro using Microsoft’s 6-bootable floppies. I was getting the following installation error by the time I got to the third bootable floppy-
“File \KDCOM.DLL could not be loaded
The error code is 4
Setup cannot continue”
From this I got a reply that it might be a memory/RAM problem. Or that a replacement of the memory modules is needed (according to one the articles from Techreplublic). Anyway, after a week on this I found out somewhere on a dicussion thread on the Internet that “dissabling the Video/XXX Shadowing in BIOS memory settings could solve the installation problem. Because XP will handle caching and shadowing for you.” I followed these instructions and the installation worked without any problems.
I don’t want to make this posting too long, so I’m giving you a link on the net that explains the role of “shadowing” settings in a computer’s BIOS.
