URL’s in Outlook

by mikiek . Updated 17 years ago

Someone (before me) created an email signature template for the whole company to use. They used a high profiles manager?s template to create the base template that was emailed out to 10,000’s of users. The updated the contact info, etc, were changed, but they failed to remove the hyperlink on the email account. Now most users have setup this template so all emails that are responded too, from any user that has this template, all go back to the high profile manager instead of the correct recipient!!!

The only way we can think of fixing this is 2 ways. Kill the email account and create a new one – The high profile manager does not want to loose this email account as they have been with the company for over 10 years and have lots of external contacts – that would be impossible to update.

The other way is to email everyone within the company and ask them to check their templates and correct the URL (from the high profile managers mailto address to their own) – we have done this at least 6 times over the last 6 months, but at least 10-50 emails a day are being delivered to the high profile managers account – all of which they have to go back and ask them sender whom they intended the email to go to, and then ask that employee to update their URL.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this as you can image that patience are now wearing thin 🙂

I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.
