US Soldier Murders Injured and Unarmed

By Bucky Kaufman (MCSD) ·
Did y'all see the video of that US soldier murdering an unarmed, injured freedom fighter?

Knowing that he was most likely NOT al Quaeda, and knowing that he definitely didn't have any nuclear missiles - can ya really keep supporting the US war against the people of Iraq?

I mean, it's just not right to have US kids getting their minds so shattered, and their morality so compromised that they're murdering unarmed, injured people.

What did he do to deserve being shot? According to the soldier who shot him, his crime was "playing dead".

What choice do we leave these people, if playing dead is a capital crime, but to become suicide bombers, and to band together with Americas enemies like al Quaeda?

Is this really the way to spread Democracy - American style?

policy and practice

by john.a.wills In reply to US Soldier Murders Injure ...

The soldier in question is being brought to justice. It is not U.S. policy to kill harmless people, however many soldiers do it, and we know it is not policy because of the process against this traitor. In SVN things were somewhat different: most of the traitors were not prosecuted, so we can say that there was a murderous policy quite high up, despite the basically good intentions of the U.S. participation in the war.

Heartbreaking but...

by wordworker In reply to US Soldier Murders Injure ...

...unavoidable. In times of war, people are stressed, and they do things they wouldn't ordinarily do. Doubtless that Marine thought he was acting appropriately for the circumstance. Until you've walked in a soldier's shoes, you can't really be a fair judge of how you would react under similar circumstances.

The worst thing that can happen is to vilify this poor Marine and **** the incident out of proportion. Sad and tragic as the event was, it is less gruesome - to my senses anyway - than a 16 yo kid strapping on explosives and blowing himself and 20 other people up. At least the soldier is a trained professional who has standards against which his behavior will be judged. That stupid 16 yo will be a martyr, tho no one will remember his name in six months...

What we need to do is END THIS WAR as soon as possible and get U.S. out of Iraq.

Assuming that you are an American, woodworker, I must say I never expected to hear this from an American at this website.

What America should have done was to cut its losses and leave Iraq 6 - 9 months ago. The longer the war continues, the more the violence escalates, and the longer America will be obliged to keep a large number of troops in Iraq to maintain some semblance of law and order.

In the present climate, the likelihood of fair elections in January is nothing but a pipe dream.

Stay the course

If the US were to do as you say and pick up and leave there would be a power vacuum in the region that would result in the deaths of a whole lot more innocent people.
Whether you agree or disagree with the starting of the Iraqi war you must understand that there needs to be a viable governing authority in place before we leave.

That's what's happening with the US soldiers running Iraq. There's a power vaccuum that is resulting in the deaths of a whole lot of innocent people.

Since the before beginning of this nation, Militant Christians and White Supremists have been insisting, as you do, that without White Christian leadership, dark skineed and non-Christian people fall to barbarism.

It's revolting.

You all have been so comfortable for 10-15 years

This war isn't going to END tomorrow. It won't next year. This is a war for a lifetime. A whole generetion of that middle eastern hatred has to be moderated by a western influence. Iraq is a only a small picture...don't lose sight of the main goal. After Iraq is up and running...Iran and Syria are next. Reason for going to Iran and Syria...US shouldn't have to give any reasons to some pissant countries that are selfish in their own way. You don't like our actions...try to stop us. Russia is going to be with us...so is India, so is Israel. 9/11 started this...America will finish this.

While there are indeed a lot of Bush Loyalists who would *like* for the US to go to war with more countries, I think it's unlikely they'll get their way.

Bush got his nut in Iraq. He's overextended. There are not enough soldiers free up to invade Tijuana.
