USB Port

My company would like to control on the external storage usage. May I know it is any OS native command allow me to disable the USB port without effecting the mouse and keyboard?

... it depends on what OS is being used.

We would need to know the specifics of the server OS as well as the client OS's.

The server OS is Windows 2K & Windows 2K3 server edition. Client OS is Windows XP

I changed the registry value from 3 to 4. However, not all USB ports were disable.
Furthermore, the registry value change back to 3 automatically when I plug in the thumb drive into those un-disable USB port.
Any idea why?

If you dont want to do a group policiy there is a registry key that will disable right capabilities to USB ports.

Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Double click on the string 'WriteProtect' and change the value data box to 0.

This will enable the use of all usb ports but will not allow capabilities.
