    User Accounts

    Locked

    by corey.lancaster ·

I’m getting an error when I try to add a new user and log in. And based on the error I have found an article #Q234512 that explains what to do but I’m not sure how to do it. Any ideas.

      Name Changes

      In reply to User Accounts

I’m assuming you attempted to change the userID by right-clicking the account and choosing “Rename.”

In fact aall you changed was the Display Name.

Both the downlevel logon name and the UPN are changed in the same spot.

In AD Users and Computers, double-click the user account in question (which will bring up account properties). Go to the Account tab. The first line (under “User logon name:”) is the UPN which consists of the user ID (first window) and the domain (@domain) (in the second window).

The second line (under “User logon name (pre-Windows 2000):”)is the downlevel logon name, which consists of the domain (DOMAIN\) (in the first window – cannot be changed) and the user ID (in the second window).

Hopefully this will fix your problem.
