If you support Office users, what questions do you hear most often? Is there a particular feature or setting that confounds them? (“I lost my toolbars!”; “What is this weird text doing where my charts are supposed to be?”; “Entire columns of my Excel data aren’t showing!”)
Are some procedures too tricky for them to figure out on their own? (“How do I get a table of contents in here?”; “What do I have to do to get this mailing list printed on labels?”; “Does Excel let you password-protect specific ranges?”)
Or are you doing a lot of hand-holding as users scramble up the learning curve from Office 2K to XP or 2003? (“Word’s comments feature doesn’t make sense anymore!”; “Why does this extra pane open every time I do anything?”; “What are all these icons doing in my worksheets?”)
TechRepublic would like to hear about the Office support issues you deal with over and over, as we explore new ways to deliver content that can help reduce user confusion (thereby making your life a little easier–at least, that’s the plan 🙂 ). Please share a few of the problems/questions that come up most often for support techs in your organization. If you have suggestions for the type of resources we might develop to help you educate your users, we hope you’ll share those, too. Thanks?
