User profiles

Hi

What would I have to delete from a user's roaming profile in order that when the user user Publisher XP, publisher would have to re-configure itself. In another word, I just want to take publisher XP of the user's profile.

I tried to delete the files in \Application Data\Microsoft\Publisher\*.* but that doesn't work.

Please suggest. I hope I make myself clear.

Regards,
Ed

It would just be easier to re-create the user's roaming profile.

The Registry for that profile (the HKEY_CURRENT_USER section) that is in the NTUSER.DAT file in the profile contains entries about Publisher. You would have to remove all of them, so that when Publisher ran and checked the Registry for the roaming profile for info about itself, that it would not find any info. After that, Publisher would put the correct Registry entries back in.

Now, modifying the Registry in such a fashion is only for fools to attempt!

hope this helps

Another way to do this is to delete the user's profile from BOTH the local workststion and the server where the roaming profile is located. The next time the user logs in, they will get the Default User profile. Make sure that this profile is configured the way you want it prior to doing this. Also remember that the user will loose all of the custom settings, favorites, etc. You can also rename the profile on the server to .old, then after the user gets a new profile, copy the contents of folders to the new profile.
