user32.dll file

The most common problem with DLL files is that a program replaced the current version of the file with an older version when it was installed.

Verify the location of the DLL file.
If you are using Windows 98 / Me, you can use System File Checker(SFC) from the Run box, and select replace a file.
Follow the instructions, and you can replace the file with the one on your Windows CD.

Alternately, you can download the file from one of the websites that maintains lists of DLL files.
One is http://www.drd.dyndns.org/index2.html

To verify the correct revision of the DLL for your version of Windows, check out
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/servicedesks/fileversion/dllinfo.asp&SD=TECH&FR=0

Remove any spaces from thepasted link.

You may need to enter DOS mode, or boot from a startup floppy to have access to change the file.
