Using an Index Explicitly

By bop_zw ·
I am running a select statement in Query Analyser.
It takes just under 5mins to run, how do I use an index explicitly to make the query more efficient?

Wrong question

by Tony Hopkinson In reply to Using an Index Explicitly

The dbms should be using the index, if it isn't then either the index is the wrong one or more likely the query is stated in a way that the optimiser inside the dbms has decided not to use it.
Thare are all sorts of reasons why that might be happening, post the query details of any indexes and the keys and I might be able to make an informed wild supposition.

Tony

I see what you mean and by changing the order by Column I have attained the desired result.

Thanks
