Using an Linksys Wireless G Router in repeatter mode as an Access Point.

By DCASU87 ·
At one time I thought I had either read or heard that it was possible to tie together a another router that was set up in repeatter mode so that it could serve as an access point, thereby increasing the distance someone could be from the main router and still gain access to the network.

Does anyone know if this is still possible with newer routers and if so, where I could read up on how to do such a thing.

Right now, my boss is using a Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT310N) for his home/office internet connection, however, it always seems that every few months that connnection seems to degrade as other people in his neighborhood seemingly get new and better toys which compete with his. He has a very large, old house with very thick stone walls such that signals are not reaching certain parts of his house. He and his wife would Like to be able to increase the places they are able to effectively use.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you in advance for reading this post and/or any suggestions or information you may offer.
