Using Answer files(MST) with Office 2000

by kamdman . Updated 25 years, 10 months ago

Hi:
I have installed Office 2000 Pro to an Administrative Share on NT4 sp6a box. Currently only Administrative group and One Test Domain user account with (rwx) has access to this folder.

I have created Three MST files for three types of installs all at top dir of Office.

1- Access Only.

2- Office Only.

3- Full (Access and Office).

Display option is set to basic, and all of these MST’s launch via a batch file such as this one:

setup.exe TRANSFORMS=S:\SoftDist\Apps\Microsoft\Office2000\Full.MST /qb-

If the system being installed on has NO Office 2000 on then the install goes as planned. However if there is any preinstalled Office 2000 item say Access or Word etc… then setup will exit prematurely and respond as if it completed successfully. However no update takes place. Now if I change the Display option to Full, and use the same MSt. Then I will get the Full setup screen with Add or remove, repair, or uninstall page with NO restriction.

Note: Results are the same on 95,98, NT
