Dont know of any specific application but I have managed this by creating partitions of 650 MB, give the partition the exact same name as the CD (including underscores etc to appear the same), and then:

a. copy all the files from the cd to the partition using explorer.

b. where the above failled, as it does with some CDs, using Nortons Ghost to make an image of the CD on to the partition.

In each case when it was successfully done the partition showed as a CD in the My Computer window.

I used to do this in Win 98 with a lot of games that played from CD as it meant I could keep the CD safely in its case.

Fantom CD. It's a freeware program. [] Also, for $20.00 there is a program called Gamedrive by Farstone [available at]. Does the same thing.

There was also another program which came bundles with soltek mother boards called "virtual drive 7" which allowed an unlimited number of "virtual" cd rom drives to be created on your hard drive, it also allowed for autorun discs when "inserting" them. You could try searching for a related web site for this product to locate a supplier.
