Using NT Service Monitor

By JoeHusker ·
Hi,

I installed NT Service Monitor from the TechNet version of the NT Server Resource Kit (suppl. 4) . I've set it up on NT Server machine with SP6 according to Ron Nutter's TechRepblic article "Monitoring Services on Your Windows NT Server" and, while testing it, have gotten no results.

I configured svcmon to send an email to my Inbox using Outlook98 whenever a specific service has changed status, polling the service every ten seconds (for testing purposes). Still, even after starting and stopping the test service several times, there has been no email notification. Svcmon service is running fine, under a username and password which I created specifically and granted Log on as a Service rights, so that's not the problem.

What gives?

Thanks,
JM

Reapply SP6, change svcmon to log in as system, and if that still doesn't work, try also checking off the box to let the svcmon service interact with the desktop.

Good luck.

The first answer looks good to me. If that doesn't work, try something else. Hope this helps.
