I’ve been a Solaris system admin for almost 8 years now, and performing as a Systems Engineer (pre/post sales support) for the past 4 years. Recently I joined the ranks of unemployed, and I am looking to unjoin those ranks. I already maintain certifications in sales of Sun and IBM pSeries, but as a direct hire of both companies it was never a requirement for certifications, although I have attended classes on all. Now that I may have to look into the partner sales role, there are times that partners are required to maintain certifications to keep their partnership roles. So my question is, should I take the leap of faith and plop down the expense of a refresher course and take the tests or wait till I find the opportunity? Thanks,
