Very Strange Display problem

By cameo_pelkey ·
First off I am trying to help a friend with trouleshooting a video card display problem but to me it seems very strange but I am not 100% sure I am understanding him correctly.

ok, so here is what he says the problem is he starts the up his computer with the monitor plugged into the new video card but only his desktop picture shows but when he switches to his integrated display it show all icons and such. but when he starts up a game or something it does not appear until he switches back, but he can not use his mouse.

As i said very strange, not sure how this could happen. A note installed newest card drivers as well as disabling integrated card. Oh and running on windows XP and the video card is diamond radeon 9250s.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Multiple Montiors

by BFilmFan In reply to Very Strange Display prob ...

Check to see if the card is sensing multiples monitors and trying to display information across both of them at the same time.

See http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/northrup_multimon.mspx and http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/hwandprograms/monitors.mspx and finally, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307873

Set to use dual monitors?

by seanferd In reply to Very Strange Display prob ...

Without two monitors?

And by "switching", do you mean he's hotplugging the monitor, as in, unplugging from one adapter and plugging into the other, while the system is on? Probably a bad idea.
