Video Adaptor

By invincible_amritsar ·
Anyone, please let me know from where I can download the video adaptor drivers for VIA AGP 2.0/3.0 Controller. The videio driver chipset is VT8238.

I could not see the video adaptor in my device manager list.

Chip-Set and Video Drivers

by TheChas In reply to Video Adaptor

Sounds like you might need multiple drivers. I don't recall VIA making actual graphics adapters.

You need to install the chip-set drivers to get the AGP bridge going, and the video adapter driver to get the video card to full potential.

If possible, start with the drivers from your motherboard or system manufacture.

The VIA reference drivers are available here:

Problem with video drivers

by invincible_amritsar In reply to Chip-Set and Video Driver ...

HI, thanx for replying to my question. However, I went to the website http://www.driverstock.com/ASUS-A7V266-MX-driver-download/6-9-10250/index.html

to download the drivers for my motherboard which is ASUS A7V266 MX

On the website I got the display drivers for my Motherboard, but when I download it and while running it gives the error message that "Could not complete the installation, for more information, please see the log file in C windows\s3setup.log

Please help from where can I download the display drivers.

Use Manufactures web sites

by TheChas In reply to Problem with video driver ...

I don't trust most of the third party driver download sites. I do use them if I am having trouble finding the manufactures web site.

For your Asus board, go straight to Asus:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=A7V266&type=map&mapindex=4

Or, use the VIA "retro" driver set 4.43

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1070

After the chip-set drivers are installed, you will still need to identify and download the driver for the video card itself.

Video Card Drivers

by invincible_amritsar In reply to Use Manufactures web site ...

HI Chas,
Once again I am very thankful to you for replying to my query.

The website you mentioned from there I managed to download the chipset drivers, however now what happens is before downloading the chipset drivers, my device manger was not showing display adaptors drivers,

now it is showing VIA CPU to AGP 2.0/AGP 3.0 Controller but it has the exclamation sign with it.

Could you please let me know from where I can download the drivers for this now.

Regards,
Ravi

VIA

by TheChas In reply to Video Card Drivers

The VIA controller is part of the chip-set drivers for your motherboard. This chip is an interface between the processor and the actual video card.

The driver you downloaded from viaarena should be the correct driver.

You might try a newer version of the driver to see if that clears things up.

The yellow ! mark makes me wonder if you might have an actual hardware problem. This could be a problem on the motherboard, or a video card that is not compatible with the VIA AGP controller.

The next step that I would take would be to remove the video card and verify what card you have. Then download and install the drivers for it.

I would also download the manual for the video card and see if any specific BIOS settings are recommended.
