Viewing other users mailbox

By ltilley ·
Actually, I need to block the viewing of other users mailboxs. THe entire system is wide open. anyone can view anyone's mail box simply by typing in their name under OPEN - Other Users folder.
Running Exchange 2000 and Outlook 2000 , on Win2000.

Are you talking of a Network or multiple users on a single machine?

Either way it seems like "Users Profiles" and "Mail Profiles" need setting up or re-organising.

Havent had time to look in exchange but I know in Outlook you can give others access to you folder by right clicking on the folder, selecting properties then the Permissions tab. By default the Default and Anonymous user has a permission level of none. Somehow your default setting is set higher. This might be set in a script the is used to automate the installation of outlook or is set on the Exchange side. You might need to check out the microsoft support sight for details on where the setting might be in Exchange.

Hope this is of some help.

If you DC server, then you can setup exchange server with user account. Open "Microsoft exchange acministator" and go to "User Properties". Then assign Primary window NT account as email account owner. Nobody can see any other inbox than owner of email inbox.
