I think I have a virus on my laptop. It’s a Dell Inspiron E1705.
I am not able to access certain websites. I can’t open Microsoft websites like msn or hotmail. I also cannot open apple.com and I’m sure there are other ones that I haven’t found yet. When I try to go to these sites, it says “waiting for msn.com” in the status bar and it stays on the previous page. However, I am able to get to google, cnn, yahoo, ebay, and many more without a problem.
I formatted my hard drive twice with two different CD’s and product keys. When that didn’t work, I took out the hard drive and flashed the bios. Put the hard drive back in and ran Kill Disk, then formatted it again and installed Windows. This still didn’t fix it. I checked the host file and there is nothing in there. I also tried installing Firefox, but I was having the same problem in Firefox that I was in IE 6.0. I can’t upgrade to 7.0 cause I can’t get to Microsoft’s website.
I am running Windows XP and I have only installed Windows XP, Firefox, and the network and video drivers.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
