Check with the manufacturer

by ThumbsUp2 In reply to Vista Issue with Canoscan ...

Software designed for Win98 or Win2K probably will not run on Vista. And, just because the software ran on WinXP doesn't mean it will on Vista. Chances are, the device won't even operate with Vista.

Check with the manufacturer to see if the device is Vista compatible and if there are Vista drivers for it. While you're there, check for updated software for it.

You really need to list the hardware

by OH Smeg Moderator In reply to Edited & Reposted Not Tex ...

If you want an answer that is specific. But as the Installer for this piece of Hardware isn't working under Vista the likelihood of the Device being Vista Compatible is unlikely.

You will need to look on the Canon Web Site for Drivers for your Hardware & Vista to see if your device is Vista Compatible. If it is not Vista Compatible like the Software that drives it it will not work on Vista and most XP Scanners are in this category.

You can start here looking your Hardware and Drivers to support it under Vista.

There IS NEW drivers for VISTA

by Mason.Paul In reply to Vista Issue with Canoscan ...

There is a series of NEW DRIVERS for Vista on the Cannon website, these are avalable in BOTH 32bit and 64bit and most languages

The same applies to Printers, Cameras, Etc.

Can't remeber but you might need the scanner serial number.
