I?ve encountered many IT professionals who espouse the usual and safe ?windows vista sucks? line but when challenged to be specific about the objection, they regurgitate end user experiences that I find lacking in substance. In my almost 20 years of working in IT I?ve never seen such a pile on mentality resulting from what I see to be a brilliant Mac propaganda effort. Don?t get me wrong, I have no love affair for MS these days and find myself using Linux more and more but to say Vista is not a good product just seems disingenuous. I?ve been using vista since the Beta, rolled it out to 60 plus users without a single lock-up or blue screen, was XP or 2000 without blue screens? Be honest. Most problems I encounter are the result of software venders that have not even elevated their product to Windows 2000 logo certification much less giving us something to work with on an increased security platform like Vista. Printer driver problems were the only legitimate challenge for Vista but most of those were the junk personal printers that have long been the source of garbage software.
For years we found ways of dealing with poorly written software requiring elevated rights, ini files in the windows directory, profile ignorant etc. on the XP platform and now we have to find ways to make older junk software work with a platform that everyone wanted, ? a more secure operating system?. But we could always take the easy way and just get a Mac, after all that leopard has no bad spot?right?
