Visual Basic Macro problem

By farwest ·
I'm trying to record a simple macro in Excel 97. I want the macro to start where the cursor is at the moment in the current spreadsheet. Currently, the marco jumps to the cell I created the macro in. This macro will be used in several files.

Once you're in macro recording mode, you should see a little icon bar in the middle of your worksheet. It should have two icons: one stop button to stop recording, and the second is the "relative". Depressing the relative icon before you start moving your cursor will do what you need.

The little icon bar for the macro does not come up once the macro recording mode starts. The cell reference will be different in different files. In other words, I might start the macro in cell E21 in one file and B21 in another.

Something must have closed the Stop Recording tool bar. Once closed, it doesn't re-appear unless you do so manually.

Start your macro, go to View | Toolbars, select Stop Recording. The tool bar should pop up.
