Visual Foxpro 6 crashes

By tercos ·
I am trying to write a program for my company and for the last 12 months have been plagued by crashes in VFP6, all more-or-less exactly the same, even on different PCs, and amounting to this:
VFP6 caused an invalid page fault in module VFP.exe at 0167:00423b37, in the EIP register. This is in IDE mode while developing, not while running the compiled program. Crashes happen when a wide variety of actions are carried out. FoxPro runs OK after restarting until next crash. I only use forms and prgfiles, nothing clever or glamorous. Any ideas, oh Great Ones?

Microsoft confirms that in VFP release 6.0, the application crashes at certain areas. They confirm this to be a bug in their product. However they failed to idenfy the specific areas where the application crashes.
I also experienced a lot of these problems.
However all of these crashing problems were resolved after installing VFP service pack 3.
So my recommendation is that, you must run VFP application with Service Pack 3 installed.

In addition, what I found to work extremely well, was 'uninstalling' VFP6. Cleaning up the registry, rebooting, reinstalling VFP6, rebooting and *then* installing the latest service pack.

I hope this helps you out!
