Ok. Here’s the situation. We currently are set up with a TCP/IP Windows NT network. Remote users use PPTP (VPN) on NT workstations to communicate with the office. Once the network authenticates the users, the DHCP server assigns them a network IP address. This works fine with dial-up accoutns.
Problem: I have a user that has signed up to get a cable modem. Normally not a big deal, most are plug and play. However, I have a user that’s cable ISP wants the Domain field empty, however to log on to the network and authenticate the domain must be present.
Since the user is in the office 20% of the time, so removing the domain doesn’t work.
Any ideas?
