    VPN issues with both NIC and Modem enabl

    I’ve set up a VPN server on our LAN that is dual-homed with the Internet. I set up a Win98SE VPN client computer and tested the connection. First, I used the NIC and plugged directly into the hub on the Internet side of the router. My VPN connection worked fine. Next, I disconnected the NIC, dialed my ISP and tried to initiate the VPN connection. I almost immediately got an error saying the server did not respond fast enough. I resolved this problem by setting up hardware profiles and disabling the NIC.

    How can I use either the NIC or the Modem to establish a VPN? I know it’s a client config issue, but I can’t find any information. I don’t want to have to disable the NIC to use the VPN through a dial-up connection.
