    VPN’S

    Locked

What has been the choice of vpn’s for you to use. I would like to be able to map network drives through the vpn. Most of my users have cable/dsl connections. I would like it to be a hardware appliance. Does anyone have any experience with symantec?

I have been using Cisco VPN with much sucess. I have 3000 VPN concentrator at the main site and cisco pix 501’s at the remote sites.

It took some configuring to get it all running but has been rock solid ever since. My biggest issue in the beggining was that if you have some traffic that goes out through the firewall and some that goes through the VPN concentrator you need a device behind them that can route. I was able to use my layer three switch to accomplish that.

I have been using sonicwalls devices at my main office and all remote offices with VPN tunnels and they have worked great. Instead of mapping drives, you would be best setting up a terminal server so you only transfer images across the VPN, not thecomplete data.
