W2K change over of servers ?

By cliftonp ·
The problem,

We have a single server w2k server network, I wish to replace the old server with a new one. The old server does have a few problems but seems to work fairly well.

My plan is to install w2k server on the new machine, and as we are also replacing all of the clients it will be in efect a new network.

How can I transfer the 1100 users and their work from the old server to the new one ans enable them to log on again next term.

Thanks in advance.

Peter.

What you could do is create the new server as a 2nd Domain Controller both servers with be Peers in a win2k network. Then transfer the user data to the new domain controller. Then you can remove the old server. The users will be able authenticated on the new server.
