w2k ntfrs accessing floppy after sp2

by mistere . Updated 24 years, 11 months ago

I have recently installed sp2 on a w2k Server which is a domain controller. Ever since then, the a: drive is accessed once every 5 minutes. The ntfrs log is showing the following line (context of 1 line either side):

:S: ReplicaCs: normal wait
WARN – GetvolumeInformation for A:\; WStatus: ERROR_NOT_READY
:DS: Computer FQDN is cn=eveleigh,ou=domain controllers,dc=clover,dc=local

so it would appear that ntfrs is, within “FrsBuildVolSerialNumberToDriveTable”, trying to access A:\ and can’t as there is no disk there (which normally there won’t be).

I’ve searched (here, groups, MS kb), but cannot see an obvious way of telling ntfrs to leave “a:” alone. This is more of an irritation than causing me a real problem, but I’d still like to get rid of the floppy drive jumping every 5 minutes!

Any clues or suggestions would be appreciated.
