I have seen alot of horror stories with SP3 installed, which I fear might be your issue.

If at all possible, remove SP3 and opt for SP2 and then install any hotfxes using hfnetchk and qchains.

As a side note, The very first thing you should dowhen you install a new OS is to install the Service Pack.

Once you install the Service pack make sure all of your devices are working. Then install all of your other MS programs first (IE, Office, SQL, VS etc).

Once your MS products are installed, run hfnetchk and go thru each thing to see if it applies.

Then using qchains install each hotfix.

Stay away from SP3 for now. I think we will find in a month or 2 that MS will come out with a new updated SP once they figure out what all of the problems are coming from.
