Does it always happen at 3 in the morning, or is it random throughout the day? Is there a process that may be kicking off around that time, such as a backup, etc.? Does the application log have anything that goes along with that error in the system log?

do you have a password protected screen saver? is there a remote shutdown being executed? Look to see if there is more errors about the same time.
