Hi,
I got a little problem on a system with Windows 2003 R2 in combination with DNS-Alias.
When I try to access over a configured DNS-Alias from the local machine to the local machine I get an login-window, where I cannot login with – for example – with local admins.
The access from other systems through the network works fine, just the access from local to local fails.
Alternatively I could use “\\localhost” or “\\127.0.0.1”, but I think its interesting to find out why the alias doesn’t work.
I already set “DisableStrictNameChecking” (standard-procedure for implementing an alias on W2k3).
The Background: Our SQL-Admins are used to use dts-packages both local on the sever and from their workstations. For the configuration within the dts-package they’d like to take a general valid FQDN.
regards,
d.
