I need to know if there is a way, either through the registry or third party software to make RESTART as the only option when shutting down a computer. The power button is not reachable by the users. Shutting down the PC in not an option.

Hi waht os are you running? If it's windows 98 then you can go to control panel and choose power management and set the setting to never I believe this should get rid of the options to shut down. rockyolson@charter.net
I am running Windows 98. The reason this was unacceptable is becuase I am not worried about power manegment I am worried about when someone goes to START/SHUTDOWN/, Shutdown cannot be an option, only Restart or Logoff can be an option.
Use policy editor and disable the shutdown option - it's listed under local user-shell-restrictions. I believe the option will still show up, but users will get a restriction message should they try to use it.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
Want RESTART as only option.
