Wanting to switch between E-mail Account

By BorgInva ·
I am using Verizon E-mail. I have 2 accounts there. I created 2 accounts in Outlook 2000 SP3. I want to be able to switch between the two acocunts I have set up. Their web site and techs say this can only be done in Outlook Express. Well, I do not have Outlook Express. I have Outlook! I know this can be done in SP1 or 2.
The acocunts are POP3 Internet mail.
Thanks.

Wanting to switch between E-mail Account

Oh, and if this helps, I do not want to be creating a whole new WXP account. I want to be able to switch multiple E-mail accounts (or profiles) in Outlook on the one Windows account.

Not sure about Outlook 2K, I have XP. You set up profiles from Control Panel/Mail/, the last button on the page is View Profiles. Set up an email account in each of two profiles. You'll have to close Outlook and reopen, choosing the second profile.

Set up 2 Outlook profiles. To do that open the Mail icon in the control panel.

Not with SP3. Those options have been removed by Microsoft. When I go to MAIL, all get is the ability to add or remove accounts. Without being able to switch them upon start up, all mail goes into the same inbox.

What you get when you set-up more than one POP account for Outlook is all mail being delivered to one inbox. You can add a column (using field chooser) to tell you the account that received the message so that from the inbox you can "see" where theincoming message came from. When sending, Outlook will use a default account unless you override it by selecting a different account.

One more note, this only works when Outlook is set for POP accounts only. If you try this when Outlook is a client to Exchange, it doesn't work.

To easy for each other to see the letter titles. For example, I do not want her seeing a current letter my friends and I have going around that says "Surprise B-day party for WIFENAME." If she saw that letter, the surprise is ruined.
:-(
However, a simple approach for my other POP3 accounts....

I use Outlook at home for my wife and my POP accounts. I created 2 subfolders of the inbox with our names and created rules in the Rules Wizard to direct the emails when they arrive. The Rule is "Apply this rule when my message arrives when received through the <account name> move it to the specified folder. You can create similar rules for sent items. Also, my wifes account is the default so when I send an email I have to go to the options button and specify my account.

Tools; Options; Mail Services; [Reconfigure Mail Support...]; change it to Corporate or Workgroup. This will give you more features and abilities.
