Always look first for patch from the game maker (ie Blizzard). Video patch, chipset patch, sound patch, anything that could hang your game.
And always DL the last drivers for your computer equipment.

Another thing to try is to look at the file C:\WINDOWS\FAULTLOG.TXT (if the file does not exist, then enable fault logging as per:
      http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=269531 )

Please describe your system. Especially your video card. Make sure both these are properly installed with the latest drivers available for them + make sure that your hardware meets or exceeds the minimum requirements for playing these. What version of Direct X are you using? OpenGL on your video?

The Blizzard site would be the best place to look for guidance on this…

Does the system have the minimum requirements for the game? If it does then drivers are probably the issue as stated above , download the latest and greatest for video and sound and use directx 8.1 and not higher. I’ve had diablo work on every system I tried it on even without a patch to the game, so i’d expect it to be a driver issue as well with video/sound. good luck.
A little more info on the system would help too!
How full is th edisk drive, how large is the swap file, try deaccelerating the video and lower the video expectations on the game.

Have you had any luck?what are the specific of your pc? AMD processor or intel? Speed? Memory? Available disk space? How many things are in the task bar and does shutting those down help? Are you running an antivirus package while trying to run thegame? What kind of video card do you have? Which diablo doesn’t run 1 or 2? I have had diablo 1 run on a 233mghz intel with 64 meg of ram and a 2 meg video card.
