Contrary to general consensus, it is my opinion that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke not only to blacks and whites in relation to the despicable circumstance of the time, but to the world in relation to civility and unity.

The negro, the white man, the American Declaration of Independence, the American Constitution are not the onlies of/to which he speaks.

Listen closely, please. Heart makes no distinction.

I was 12 when he was murdered. I am to some degree a product of those turbulent times.
Those turbulent times gave me a sense that something larger than the petty mundanity that assaults our senses daily is at stake. Those turbulent times gave me ‘the reality’ that human is human, outward circumstance notwithstanding. Those turbulent times gave me a glimpse at that which I am. That which we all are.
