Web development tools overview

by russt . Updated 25 years, 3 months ago

As manager I am responsible for choosing the tool(s) to use for our web site development. The current plan is to start with an information only site, and in the future move to ecommerce. We are a manufacturer of computer support eqpt. Keyboard traysand monitor arms. We have used Front Page with some success. Our ISP suggests NetObjects. Then there is Java and Java Script. My question is how do all these relate to each other? It seems like everything relates to HTML (sort of the common denominator). Where do the others fit in? Then there is Go Live, which we had hoped to use since it integrates well with Photoshop and Illustrator, that we use. It proved to be unstable and crashes our NT systems. I’m not looking for specifics on programs Just an overview. Like the difference between Java and Java sctipt, and how they relate to web development.
TIA
