Webcast over Company Intranet

By colin.mac ·
Hello all, I've been given the task of trying to project a webcam image from a remote P.C.(Windows 2000 PRO,web cam,ADSL etc..) over our company intranet. Our company intranet is run in-house(Windows 2000 PRO, ADSL, I.I.S,Zope, etc...) and has its own static IP address however the system that I need to run the web cam from is dynammically assigned. How would I go about creating a page on the company intranet for displaying this remote web cam ? and what specialised software would I need ?

You don't need any specialized software. You need to install ILS (internet locator service) on your IIS machine. Then you can use a webcam and NetMeeting to get the job done.

I do rate your answer, but I need a bit more info before I can award the points.

I've used Net Meeting for one to one contact over the internet but I'm un-sure about how to set it up with regard to including it on a company web site, can you point me to some information sites on this ILS.

Much thanks

I've downloaded all the specific apps I need for ILS, but when I read up a bit more on Site Server 3.0 there was a bullet point stating not to install site server 3.0 on Windows 2000 PRO system(which i'm using). ALthough it was a suggestion on a data sheet, I was just wandering if anyone has loaded SS3 onto Win 2K PRO and had any problems ?

ugh, install iis ?!!?!? netmeeting?!?!?

totally unecessary, go to microsoft.com , install windows media encoder

use it to broadcast from one pc, and all the others on the lan can easily pick up the webcam stream by simply clicking on a link, it will show up in windows media player.

i do this all the time
