Webdb on linux

By deven_vj ·
I have oracle8i on linux configured with network support and i had installed webdb 2.0 now .
I have used Apache web server as gateway.

The question is M i required to configure seperate listener.ora, tnsnames.ora etc.. in
$ORACLE_HOME/webdb/network/admin as there are seperate binaries for the webdb software.
or oracle8i network configuration file should be edited and what to add more in that ??

Webdb on linux

Hi - I know this is sooo old, but I thought I'd post some kind of answer, at least... if it's still relevant.

Firstly - it sounds like you installed them on separate ORACLE_HOMEs, correct?

You don't have to configure seperate listener & tnsnames .ora files if you set the env variable of TNS_ADMIN to point to the Oracle8i client, such as:
$ORACLE8i_HOME/network/admin/

They way we usually do this is create an oracle user, and then a webdb user. With their environment variable slightly different, to such separate oracle homes. However, the TNS_ADMIN env. variable should just point to one "central" tns network admin directory.

HTH - Let me know if you need me to clarify.
