Is this a internal OR external device?

You could always try this site for your driver if it is External.

Or better still. load on Windows XP, if you can get it.

Thank you for your answer.
I was afraid there was something wrong with the HD, but I tried it on another computer (Windows Vista) and it worked.
I know it's pretty old version, but there are a lot of things I need on this computer, so I wanted to save them. At the moment I don't have the possibility to buy it...
I already looked at this web site and didn't found the information I needed, but thank you anyway.

You might have to format it in the Windows system...

by Peconet Tietokoneet In reply to external

For your drive to be found you will have to format it in the Windows system, go here for more info, yes it does say XP but it will work for your Windows 2000... :)

It's supposed to be a USB Driver for XP & 2000 according to WD at least.

Though you may have to look for your exactly Model of External HDD.

Also these HDD's do chew up a lot of Power so if it came with a Y Cable make sure that both of the USB Plugs are plugged into different USB ports on the Computer. These Y Cables have one Power Plug and one Power & Data Plug, if you are plugging int he one furriest away from the enclosure it is only a Power Plug and the lead is thiner than the Main one in the middle of the lead.
