What Are Developers Prioritizing Most in 2025?

I wanted to start a discussion around current priorities in modern web development. With so many frameworks, performance tools, and design trends constantly evolving, I’m curious what other developers and teams are focusing on most right now.

Are you prioritizing:

Page load speed and performance?

Seamless user experience and UI consistency?

Backend flexibility and scalability?

Or a balance of all of the above?

I’ve been working on a few client projects recently and noticed how differently teams approach these trade-offs depending on the project size, audience, or even team experience.

In our company we are focusing on performance and UX equally, but it depends on the project. Startups usually want speed and agility, while larger clients prioritize scalability and consistency across platforms.

Would love to hear how others here are approaching this in 2025. What’s changed for you compared to just a couple of years ago?

As the OP says, it depends on the project.

The “business owner” (a common term in modern development methods) is part of the business and responsible for the requirements. The “product owner” is part of the development team and responsible for the implementation. Of course, they closely cooperate to get the best possible result given the budget and time restraints.
