What are TechRepublic article Add Comment features broken?

Not sure if others get this but it's an issue I've been having for months, maybe a year or two, but many of the TR articles I read (which I do daily), often have broken script or page loading in which the ability to post comments is non-existent. There aren't any errors, it's just sometimes I click the Add Your Comment and it just links to the bottom of the page like a name anchor might do, but there's nothing there to work with.

Sorry I'm not being more technical about this description but something tells me this problem is not unique to me so I probably don't need a lot of detail anyway.

Side note: yeah there are problems here

To add more to this strange issue, I realized in my title I should have said "why", not "what", so I clicked the Edit link. The TR site tried to download and give me the standard IE 11 option to Open or Save a file, which is called edit.json . (a javascript file methinks).

The site is not bad overall and I've been a TR reader for about 7 years now, and the problems defijnitely began when you changed your website design to this most recent one (months or a year or two ago). They haven't improved since meaning nobody is reporting this stuff.

but then I comparatively rarely add comments. Still, I seem to be adding this one. I ntoice that your last comment got appended twice: that is something I have seen fairly often in my own and others' submissions.

Yep, been that way since TR 'upgraded' the site

a couple of years ago. Several features didn't work initially. Others technically worked but had changed from their former functionality to the point of being useless. Some of the broken ones have been fixed since, but by that time the other changes had driven most of the membership away. The still-unfixed problems include the ones you noted. We reported the heck out of them for the first month, but quit bothering when none were fixed and we received no feedback as to their status.

I'm over this place now. It's like a deceased pet: you keep the fond memories but at some point you have to move on.
